Track income and expense easily
SmartLedger is a basic application to keep track of your income and expenses. You have to admit that the interface is fairly unattractive and more reminiscent of applications built for Windows 95. And yet, SmartLedger is very easy to use. The main window is reserved for your list of credits and debts and you can easily add a new element, to which you can set entries for date, amount, account and many more thanks to the multiple drop-down menus. The application also has a "Get Subtotals" button to immediately know where you stand.
The trouble with SmartLedger is that the structure of the application feels so rigid that you're almost afraid to get lost in it. The application is not difficult to use, but moving around between windows doesn't feel that intuitive. Your best bet is to navigate by using the top menu options. Furthermore, although a help menu is available, there are no real explanations to all the buttons and tools in the program. You'll have to figure this out yourself, mostly by fiddling around with the sample entry you find when first using the program.
SmartLedger is a fairly basic credits and debts application, however users should turn to much more modern and flexible applications.
